Asheville, NC (September 19th, 2019) – Bringing their current “Till The Wheels Fall Off” tour to Asheville, NC Blackberry Smoke fans filled the meadow at Highland Brewing Company in anticipation for the show. The area has long been a staple of their tour schedule and with the help of Zac Brown the band recorded their popular “Whippoorwill” album at the local Echo Mountain Recording Studio. Guest openers, The Record Company, are joining the group again for this tour after having been out with BBS for a European list of dates in 2015.
The billboard charting and Grammy nominated three piece band consisting of Chris Vos (guitar, lead vocals), Alex Stiff (bass, backing vocals), and Marc Cazorla (drums, backing vocals) kicked off the show for the early attendees. Providing their bluesy rock sound The Record Company drew in the audience with an energetic show. As a trio the band had a surprisingly full sound. Performing songs from their 2016 album release “Give It Back To You” and 2018 album “All of This Life” new fans were engaged clapping and quickly picking up on song hooks singing along. For a band I’ve heard a lot about but had yet to be seen The Record Company did not disappoint.
As the excitement built it was finally time for Blackberry Smoke to take the stage. Through the years the band has amassed a large and loyal following as well as sharing the stage with notable acts from rock to country. Recently touring as direct support for the Tedeschi Trucks Band the group is back out for their own headlining fall tour.
Filling their set with fan favorites from their 6 studio albums BBS took fans on a musical journey throughout the night. With their use of dynamics setting various moods the music captivates the audience with driving rock rhythms to the soft and subtle blues licks. Band members Charlie Starr (lead vocals, guitar), Richard Turner (bass, vocals), Brit Turner (drums), Paul Jackson (guitar, vocals), Brandon Still (keyboards) also pay tribute to other southern rock legends like Allman Brothers, Marshall Tucker and even The Beatles mixing in part of those bands hit songs during instrumental jams on songs like “Sleeping Dogs.” As the night come to a close fans cheered on calling for an encore. Watching as the stage crew rolled out an extra amp set up fans were guessing as to who a surprise guest may be. Reentering the stage joined by Ed Jurdi from The Band of Heathens BBS commenced to pleasing the crowd for two more songs ending with “Ain’t Much Left of Me.”
Blackberry Smoke currently has tour dates listed through the end of December and will also be opening the show for Gun’s ‘N’ Rose’s during a stop in Las Vegas in October.
