Greenville, SC (9/10/21) – The last year and a half has seen venues closing, bands cancelling shows, and tours getting postponed due to Covid. All these factors have made it a tough time for concert photographers to work shows and it’s not been often you get to work with the same bands. I had the pleasure of working with Demun Jones and The Lacs about a year ago so when I heard they were coming back to The Blindhorse Saloon in Greenville, SC I knew that I had to be there. The 2 groups have been out in support of their “Country Lit Tour 2021” bringing along guests Dusty Leigh and Big Buzz.

Sometimes when you see four groups listed on a bill for a show you get disappointed. A lot of the times the opener can be less than satisfactory. Tonight’s opener changed that mindset for me. Storming the stage with his facial tattoos and big attitude was Big Buzz. I have to be honest, I’d never heard of this guy and that’s definitely a mistake on my part. Don’t be like me, check him out. He may be a big, tough, loud guy on stage but I got speak to him for a little while after the show and he’s the complete opposite. Just a nice humble guy who loves sharing his music with the world.

Next up was Dusty Leigh. In a night full of loud, powerful, hard hitting country music. This guy probably had the most entertaining set of the evening. Dusty’s show was full of laughs and smiles the whole time he and the drummer were performing. Did I mention the huge group of girls he had twerking for him on stage during the show? He had every girl in the crowd cheering and singing with him, and every guy was jealous they were not up there also.

The 3rd act of the night is the one I’ve told all my friends about since last time I worked with him. With his straw hat and spinning towel Demun Jones knows what a crowd grabbing stage presence is. The energy never stops his entire show. The name “Demun” was given to him as a child for being so young and energetic. Many years later, he still performs with that same attitude. The only time the show slowed down was when he asked his guitar player to play the national anthem. Jones asked everyone to take a moment of silence and remove their hats to show respect as he stood side stage and joined in on the patriotic moment. Demun has come a long way since his days with Rehab and I can’t wait to see what he brings to the stage next time I see him.
The Lacs

With two handfuls of Bud Light and their deep southern roots, The Lacs take the stage to end the night. Country, rock or hip hop, doesn’t really matter what you call it, these Georgia boys get on stage and have fun. They make this whole venue and huge crowd feel like they are at a house party. Take away the smoke machines, flashing lights, and loud music and you just have two friends on stage who you can tell love performing together. The first time I got to shoot these guys I didn’t know what to expect. This may be my second time with them but they still kept me on my toes. The Lacs may not be the country music you grew up with but these guys are doing it their style with a huge following that seems to love it.
Take a moment to look up these artists. Each one of them have all worked with big names such as Jelly Roll, Bubba Sparxxx, Upchurch, and many more. They have all grabbed the attention of many fans and many other artists. You can find them all on Youtube, Apple music, or whatever other steaming service you may use. I promise you’ll come across some catchy songs that get stuck in your head.
