Charlotte, NC (8/30/21) – Tonight’s show at The Neighborhood Theatre in Charlotte, NC brings the Butcher Babies in to town for a stop on their VS Goliath tour. Also appearing on the tour are Infected Rain, Stitched Up Heart and this evenings local opener Falling Through April. A night filled with rock and metal music by all female fronted bands who absolutely killed it proving that it’s not just men who can hold their own in this genre.
The Butcher Babies took it back old school featuring a number of songs from their debut album Goliath. Wasting no time they hit the stage hard and heavy belting out song after song as fans pumped their fists in the air. Heidi and Carla worked the stage as the band powered through heavy riffs enticing the crowd into a circle pit. The heavy metal duo introduced the crowd to some new music as well with their more recent singles from December 2020 called “Sleeping with the Enemy” and “It’s Killin’ Time, Baby!” released just 3 days before this show. Between trading lead vocal duties, hair whips, an array of flashing lights and band members thrashing around on stage the group provided no lack of entertainment with a head turning show trying to take it all in.
Infected Rain hails from Chisinau, Moldova and as front woman Elena Cataraga, aka Lena Scissorhands stated, she didn’t expect anyone to know where that is. However, one young attendee surprised everyone by actually informing the crowd. With her orange dreads whipping through the lights the 5 piece group rocked out a set of metal delight. When asked who in attendance had heard of the band before no one responded. That all changed by mid set as the crowd was chanting the groups name and begging for more. Having formed in 2008 the band has shared the stage with many notable acts like Motley Crue. They have also released 4 albums with the latest titled “Endorphin” from 2019. I’m sure this is a band for metal heads to keep their eyes on for the rest of this tour.
I previously attended a Stitched Up Heart show back in July of 2019 here in Charlotte as well. Prior to then I had not heard of the group but they won me over. I’ve been waiting for a chance to see Mixi and band live on stage again since then. Tonights set was definitely worth the wait. Fans were singing along to many of the songs and fully engaged in the set. The band was on fire and Mixi’s powerful vocals filled the room. Personal favorites of mine “Monster” and “Lost,” which features Sully Erna of Godsmack on the recording, were included in the set. Having been 2yrs since I last seen the group you could still see and feel the passion and drive of the band throughout the show. Melodic, haunting vocals give way to hard core screams as the band weaves its way through a range of dynamic
With tonight’s show only the 3rd of the tour there is still plenty of time to catch these acts out on the road. The current list of dates runs through mid October.
