Asheville, NC (3/12/23) – The Orange Peel got a heavy dose of head banging, fist pumping, hair whips and circle pits Sunday evening. A night of heavy metal was provided by Megadeth legends David Ellefson and Jeff Young on tour with their new group Kings of Thrash.
Joined by San Francisco based band Hatriot as direct support the night would be a special one for loyal metal heads. Fronted by Coudy Souza, son of Zetro Souza of EXODUS, the four piece provides heavy hitting songs. Hair raising screams with scorching guitar work had listeners moshing in a happy rage across the venues floor.
Kings of Thrash is rounded out by frontman and guitarist Chaz Leon and drummer Fred Aching. Providing a 2 hour show the band powers through 2 classic Megadeth albums, “Killing Is My Business…and Business Is Good” and “So Far So Good…So What.” Delving into such nostalgic pieces of music history had fans enamored with excitement. Intense musical moments kept the energy high during the KOT set. Driving drum and Bass matched with chunky guitar riffs and blistering guitar solos held the crowds attention throughout the entertaining technical compositions. Added in the set for a little fun was a cover of the Sex Pistols hit “Anarchy In The UK.” The group also provided a brand new original titled “Bridges Burned.” With more new material in the works being promoted on the band’s TikTok page one could only hope for a new list of tour dates to experience the new, yet familiar sounds of these great artists live once again.
