Greer, SC (November 16th, 2019) – There’s a famous movie quote, “if there’s good music people will come”…well maybe not exactly like that but people sure did come out to The Spinning Jenny in Greer, SC this evening. Fans braved the cold to line up early outside of the venue waiting to take their places inside. Overhearing conversations someone spoke of coming from Atlanta, GA while another two ladies spoke of traveling from Ft. Worth, Texas to attend the event. Who would entice fans to travel that far to a small quiet town…country star Lee Ann Womack. With a packed out room ready for the show groups formed at the merch booths with fans showing their support as they loaded up on music, shirts and more.
Taking the stage first was local native and current Gatlinburg, TN resident Jeff Anderson. With his long beard and cowboy hat Jeff entered the stage as his band began the intro to the groups first song. It didn’t take long to see the listed influences of artists such as Dwight Yoakam and Aaron Tippin as Jeff powered through his set of originals. As his show progressed you could tell he was earning new fans who were actively engaging in the music. Throwing in a cover of the Joe Diffie classic “PickUp Man” Jeff had the room singing along. Taking a moment to speak of his current latest single “It Is What It Is” Jeff made mention of his upcoming show back at this same venue on December 5th where he will be debuting his new CMT music video release as well. Jeff Anderson brings back that traditional country sound with a bit of the 90’s flare to it making for a great stage catchy, sing-a-long songs.
With a short set break the lady of the evening walked out to a welcoming round of applause and cheers from an eager crowd. With a string of hits to her name and having worked with legends such as Willie Nelson it’s no surprise that Lee Ann Womack can still draw out the crowds. Her delicate yet powerful voice resonated throughout the acoustics of the room as she sang through hit after hit. Flawlessly flowing from one song to the next Lee Ann worked her way through “Last Call,” “A Little Past Little Rock” and “I May Hate Myself In The Morning” amongst others. Backed by a band playing each note to perfection Womack effortlessly delivered a quality performance.
Taking fans on a journey through her 20 plus year career from the first single “Never Again, Again” to “All The Trouble” from her latest album release “The Lonely, Lonesome and Gone” Lee Ann provided her long time supporters with everything they were looking for. Several times during the show fans erupted into cheering that you could see Womack appreciated as she would step back from the mic momentarily taking it all in. Straying from the set list and extending it a bit she added in “I’ll Think of a Reason Later” before she drew the show to a close with her most notable song “I Hope You Dance.”
Being called back to the stage for an encore Lee Ann gave a great cover of “You’re Still On My Mind” by George Jones and ended with the Don Williams classic “Lord, I Hope This Day is Good.”
Womack closes out her shows for the year tomorrow night in Alabama before resuming touring with dates already scheduled for January of 2020.
