Greenville, SC (July 10th, 2019) – With 30yrs under their belts the guys known as New Kids On The Block are still “Hangin’ Tough” as was evident with last nights performance in Greenville, SC at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena. Donnie, Joey, Jordan, Jonathan and Danny performed their hot “Summertime” show as part of the groups current “Mixtape Tour.” Opening the show with a new song titled “The Way” the “Kids” went on to sing an array of music spanning their career. Songs like “You Got It (The Right Stuff),” “Please Don’t Go Girl,” “Step by Step” and “Cover Girl” had fans in a frenzy. The venue was packed full of “Vintage Groupies,” as the shirts read, who brought their daughters along ushering in a new generation of fans. Big curly hair, fanny packs and neon colored windbreakers seemed to be standard attire for the evening amongst these “80’s Baby’s.”
Through out the show there were guest appearances by other time period artists as well. Tiffany was the first with her hit “I Think We’re Alone Now” as she was praised by NKOTB for her helping give them their break years ago. NKOTB stated that not many know of that connection but without her help they probably wouldn’t be standing in front of thousands of fans tonight.
Debbie Gibson followed with a trio of songs comprised as a medley featuring “Out Of The Blue,” “Shake Your Love” and “Electric Youth.” She later returned for a duet with Joey McIntyre for a vocally powerful version of “Lost In Your Eyes.”
Salt-n-Pepa entered the arena reminding fans to “Push It” real good as they performed hits “Whatta Man,” “Shoop” and “Let’s Talk About Sex” along with their back up dancers.
Naughty By Nature continued to hype the crowd along with the DJ group Illtown Sluggaz as the crowd waved their hands in the air to “Hip Hop Hooray” and other hit songs like “O.P.P.” and “Feel Me Flow.”
Having seen many shows this was probably one of the loudest group of attendees I have ever heard. Constant cheering and singing along to the music. The show itself was one of the most interactive, up close and personal as well. Each group of artist were amongst the crowd for the majority of the show. With a main stage set up and a smaller stage placed at the back of the venues floor seats the entertainers would walk from stage to stage through the fans pausing for selfies along the way. NKOTB also making their way into the stands at one point. The Mixtape Tour definitely knows how to please the group of artists loyal following. The tour makes its final stops through next week ending in Florida.
