Charlotte, NC (3/21/22) – It has been 12yrs since Slash last performed at The Fillmore in Charlotte, NC. With such a long wait it is no surprise people were lined up hours early to take their spots inside the venue. Fans young and old dressed in various attire brandishing their support for the iconic guitarist. Many reflected on memories of past concerts while others, like myself, were awaiting their first time seeing a live performance from the musical idol.
Teaming up once again with Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators the group released the album “4” back on February 11th, 2022. Fans were eager to hear the new music as the band provided songs such as “Fall Back To Earth,” “Fill My World” and “The River is Rising,” which lends its name to the tour. Slash delivered his musical prowess with each and every song. Joined by additional guitarist Frank Sidoris, bassist Todd Kerns, Brent Fritz on drums and Myles Kennedy taking the stage front and center with his powerful vocals the band gave the crowd a 2hr show. The set list would also reach back for some classic Slash songs like “Speed Parade” and “Doctor Alibi.” Added bonuses were covers of Elton John’s “Rocket Man” and “Always On The Run” from Lenny Kravitz.
Although most would assume that the Guns ‘n’ Roses legend with his symbolic top hat would overshadow others onstage or possibly the Alter Bridge singer Myles Kennedy that would not be the case. The talent on stage is immense and each artist had moments to shine through out the expansive set. The energy of the crowd filling the venue only fueled the vibe inside the walls of The Fillmore. Rockers young and old pumped fist in the air and sang along to each and every song. One couple got married during the show while another lady 75yrs of age actually crowd surfed her way to the front of the stage. Myles would pause between songs stating, “this may have been one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen in my life” as each band member took time to shake her hand and give her a collection of guitar picks.
The current run of dates ends on March 26th in Orlando, FL but there is plenty of new music on the current album to hold you over until the next run of dates comes along.
