Wednesday 13
Greenville, SC (June 26th, 2019) – I’m sure it’s rare to be on your way to a venue, and get a text saying a band you’ve been trying to catch for awhile is opening the show. Lets just say, Wednesday 13 did not disappoint! These guys are a force to be reckoned with. They were armed with body paint, crazy hair, and tons of talent, they definitely let the other bands know they better be bringing their A game. Don’t be like me and take so long to see these guys. Check them out and give them a listen.
DOPE
If you asked me how the next band was, of course I would have said “they were Dope”! Pushing hard since the late 90’s, Dope has enjoyed much success over the years. Being led by singer and founder Edsel Dope, the band is still taking over the stage and pushing forward hard. With 6 full length albums under their belt, I don’t think these guys plan on slowing down. Playing their hit “Die MF Die” these guys had the crowd jumping and singing along to every word. A very energetic band worth seeing. They had me hooked the moment their set started.
DevilDriver
Keeping the night driving hard and next to take the stage was DevilDriver. Led by front man Dez Fafara, also of Coal Chamber, these guys did not disappoint. All the way from California and still pushing their last record “Outlaws ’til The End“. They came to make a statement in Greenville, SC, that they were there to be remembered. With a hard driving rhythm section and screaming guitars, these guys had the crowd moshing and crowd surfing for more. Even throwing the Coal Chamber hit “Fiend” in to the set list. To be the singer of two successful metal bands, it was obvious this guy knew how to make a presence on stage.
Static-X
Finally it was time, the original line up of Static-X was taking the stage to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their hit album ”Wisconsin Death Trip.“ Also there to honor and remember the passing of lead singer Wayne Static. With the families support, new lead singer and mystery man, going by Xer0 takes the stage in a Wayne mask to honor him. His stage movement and singing resembles and keeps Wayne’s memory alive. The rest of the band was full of energy to celebrate and remember their friend. Guitar player Koichi Fukuda jumping up and down on his platform and bassist Tony Campos singing back up and pounding the bass had the front of the stage full of energy, all while drummer Ken Jay kept time perfectly in front of the bright LED screens behind him. These guys did an amazing job honoring, remembering, and celebrating the life of Wayne. All while making us remember the Wisconsin Death Trip album.
Static-X
Every one of these band pushed the envelope and had the crowd screaming all night. If this tour hits your town, don’t miss it!
