Columbia, SC (4/27/21) – Having been off the road for 14mths Steel Panther was finally back on the road playing live music. Making there 6th stop, and first appearance in Columbia, SC ever, the band rolled into The Senate for a sold out show. Fans lined up outside reminiscing about some of their favorite concert moments in excitement as shows are finally starting to come back. Once inside The L.A. Maybe from Charlotte, NC kicked the night off with a heavy dose of 80’s infused rock riffs with a modern touch. Filling songs with powerhouse vocals, duel guitar solos, thundering bass in sync with driving beats from the drums and a nicely added touch of keys to fill out the songs. This band is a must see with their impressive talent and energy on stage.
With the lights down low silhouettes of big hair could be seen taking places on stage. With strikes of the first notes the stage came to life full of color, some provided by lights but a lot more by the make up and brightly colored spandex pants of rockers Steel Panther. With their exaggerated 80’s glam metal looks and comedic songs of raunchy perversions fans filled the room with loud cheers singing along to every song. A band known for sexual innuendos and light hearted joking moments the quartet of Michael Starr, Satchel, Lexxi Foxx and Stix Zadinia filled their set with notable songs such as “Asian Hooker,” and “Poontang Boomerang” Columbia was those in attendance at The Senate were definitely ready to “Party Like Tomorrow Is The End Of The World.”
Between Starr and Satchel’s story telling Lexxi filled the air with enough Aqua Net to make any 1980’s teenage girl jealous as Stix provided his best Rick Allen (Def Leppard) drumming skills. Being the ever so pleasing guys that they are the band invited some ladies of the audience to join them on stage. After realizing they didn’t have enough to fulfill their fantasies they asked for one more to join for a total of 18 in hopes to beat their record of “17 In A Row” as they proclaimed their…ummm…packages we shall say are “Community Property.”
As the night ended the band took time to thank everyone in attendance for making the trip out to see them before encouraging advice on making their next trip to Europe to experience the “Glory Holes.”
