Charlotte, NC (April 28th, 2019) – Rolling into Charlotte, NC tonight for a show at Ovens Auditorium ahead of their new album release is Whitesnake. Currently out on the “Flesh and Blood” tour supporting the much anticipated album of the same name fans lined up waiting for the doors to open. Bringing along guests The Black Moods tonight’s show was destined to be great.

As 8pm neared the lights dimmed and out come the Tempe, Arizona based band The Black Moods. Taking to the stage with intro music from “The Who” the 3 piece opened with “Can’t Sleep At Night” from their self titled 2012 album. From the start you could feel the energy of this band and see passion they put into their stage show. Having toured with other notable groups like ShinedownGin Blossoms and Jane’s Addiction the band has been able to hone in their live performance that commands your attention. Filling the set with other songs like “Right Now Anywhere” from the 2016 album “Medicine” the “Moods” entertained the early seat takers as well as drawing others in from the lobby area.

Frontman Josh Kennedy, with his powerful, raspy vocals and bluesy rock riffs to Jordan Hoffman (Bass) and Chico Diaz (Drums) holding down a tight rhythm section The Black Moods fill their songs with catchy hooks and choruses. The group, to me, has a vibe reminiscent of The Black Crowe’s with a modern fresh sound that is absent from mainstream rock radio today. A sound you could tell by the response of those in attendance is missed.

By the time the band played their Billboard Top 40 2018 single “Bella Donna” new fans were waving fists in the air and singing along before its end. The song title also lends its name to one of the flavors in the bands on line of wine.

Closing out their set with the groups newest single “Bad News,”that was recorded with famed producer Johnny “K” Karkazis, The Black Moods left the crowd wanting more as was evident from the crowd lined up by their merch booth after the show to meet the group and buying their music.

With a short set break it was time for tonight’s headliners to entertain over 4 decades of fans.

The multi-platinum, award winning group Whitesnake opened their show with “Bad Boys” from their 1987 self titled album and “Slide It In” from the 1984 album of the same name. Immediately fans began to rock along with the band as frontman David Coverdale worked the stage. Of course the group went on to play classic chart topping hits such as, “Is This Love” and “Here I Go Again” as one would expect but mixed in came some of the groups new songs as well.

From the upcoming 18 track “Flesh & Blood” album to be released on May 10th, 2019 Coverdale and band introduced long time fans to new songs, “Shut Up & Kiss Me,” “Get Up,” “Gonna Be Alright” and “Trouble Is Your Middle Name.” Each new tune keeping to the classic sound Whitesnake has been known for. Filled with edgy rock riffs and guitar solos with Coverdale’s powering vocals and memorable melodies.

Mid set the bands two guitarists Joel Hoekstra and Reb Beach entertained the crowd with an amazing guitar duel. Mesmerizing the crowd with their skillful talent to rounds of cheerful applause. As a musician (guitarist) myself seeing this performance was a nice addition to the show.

Later in the night also came a just as energetic and intriguing drum solo from the bands legendary drummer Tommy Aldridge

Filling out the bands current line up were bassist Michael Devin and keyboardist Michele Luppi who added just as much energy and layers to the bands stage show.

As the night came to an end fans were eager to hear one last song calling the band back out to the stage for an encore performance of “Still Of The Night.” With Coverdale engaging the crowd as he held the mic out trading vocal lines the full band kicked in to the iconic guitar licks and full on rock grooves. A perfect end to a great night of iconic rock and roll.
