Greenville, SC (2/16/24) – Between family, wedding photography, portraits, and other things it’s been awhile since I’ve photographed a concert. Apparently, I picked the perfect one to get started back on. Packed parking lot, people directing traffic, line around the building….it was sure to be a great night. Things were crazy before I even got inside. Colby Acuff and 49 Winchester were about to bring Greenville, and The Foundry a wild Friday night.
Before I could even get set up, I had people front row stopping me talking about Colby. Not often that happens for an opening band but everything they told me was correct. This guy came out with a fire in him to get the night kicked off right. He had everyone ready to party and have a great evening. An artist I won’t miss seeing when they are back in town again. Don’t believe me, check out some of his songs on Apple Music. Such as “If I Were the Devil and Dying Breed.” You’ll for sure be finding your way to one of his shows very soon.
Before Isaac and the guys in 49 Winchester took the stage, the crowd was already going nuts. You could feel the energy in the room. Guys raising their beers cheering, southern girls going “bananas” screaming, all these people were ready for some real country music. Now this isn’t skinny jeans, backing track, pop country. This is a gritty, real, outlaw country band. Opening with the song “All I Need” the guys were on stage to take control of the night. I had only discovered this band a few weeks ago. Now I’m listening to a sold out crowd sing every word to their songs. You should have heard the noise in the room when they kicked into the song “Russell County Line.” This band might be from Castlewood, Virginia but these long time friends were making South Carolina feel like their home state.
Between autotune, editing, or any studio tricks anybody can record a good song but not everyone can do it live. These guys are bigger and better than any studio recording. If you are in the mood for what country should be, check them out online! Youtube, Apple Music, Spotify, these guys are everywhere!
