Barnardsville, NC (7/10/21) – The rockers known as Jackyl rolled their bus in to the backwoods of western North Carolina Saturday night for a show at The Barn at Paint Fork. The last time these guys were in the area was March of 2020 just before the Covid restrictions took place. At that time they were in downtown Asheville and as always put on a great show but tonights venue just seemed to be a much better fit for the band. A location set back in the hills on a mountain side surrounded by hogs, fire pits and a stage that looks like “The Lumberjack,” better known as Jesse James Dupree, cut up with his chainsaw and made himself just felt right. With the amount of “Redneck Punks” who came out of the hollers and many who traveled from places like Ohio, Florida and Georgia I’d say the loyal fans agreed.

As gates opened eager attendees took there places just as a downpour of a storm came through. Lasting for an hour no one budged and the crowd grew larger. Just as showtime closed in the skies cleared and gave way to a night of great rock and roll. Openers Gutterhound wound up the audience with their brand of raw rock music and energetic stage show. Following up would be Throwdown Jones who played through a set of your favorite 80’s rock/metal hits from Ozzy Osborne to AC/DC and throwing in a little Run DMC as well. Having seen this band several times these guys never disappoint.

Now came time for the nights headliners. As the intro music played the anticipation and energy grew as the band walked out to largest crowd yet at Jackyl’s Bar & Grill…umm…I mean The Barn.  The foursome would “Blast Off” through a string of hits new and old with fans pumping fist and singing along the whole night.

Jackyl may be known for their songs but what you don’t expect is to gain some valuable knowledge while attending a performance. The guys provide lessons in self therapy learning about the “Secret of The Bottle” or like maintaining a good corn bread skillet and how to properly “wipe it off.” Jackyl and their fans are a family and that’s why these shows are call “Reunions” and I personally find it to be a nice thing of these guys to share their hard earned knowledge through life experiences, lol.

Push  Comes To Shove,” “Dirty Little Mind” and “I Stand Alone” are always fan favorites but a nice surprise was reaching back to another older song, “Back Off Brother.”  The song released back in 1992 is seemingly fitting in today’s times as well with lyrics asking “How’s it feel to worry about things and never know who’s wrong or right.”

No Jackyl show is complete without a little bluesy chainsaw music. With the boys in the band, Jeff WorleyRoman Glick and Chris Worley holding down the groove frontman Jesse Dupree strikes his poses with his unique instrument of choice, the chainsaw. Revving the motor and choking his tool jesse struts his stuff before spraying saw dust across the stage. With a salute to the crowd the band invites their fans to meet them at the merch booth taking a moment to thank all for coming out.

Jackyl is currently has dates listed through October. Be sure to get out and see them live as they come to a town near you.
