Charlotte, NC (March 16th, 2019) – The chainsaw wielding Jesse James Dupree and his band of “Redneck Punks” rolled into the ”Queen City” on a holiday weekend for what he likes to call a “Family Reunion.” Making a return to the recently reopened Amos’ Southend after a 2yr hiatus the group provided the venue with its first sold out show since opening the doors earlier this month. A packed house of fans who chose these “Lumberjack” hit makers over the Leprachaun festivities spread across the city. Bringing along other rockers Black River Rebels and Silver Tongued Devils the crowd was in for a long night of fist pumping and headbanging.

With a packed room of eager fans, many who drove in from out of town with support gear on for all three bands, the Silver Tongued Devils took to the stage to start the night. Hailing from Anderson, SCthis youthful band of old souls with their vintage look wasted no time getting the crowd going. Opening with originals “Gimme Some Sugar” and “Heart On Your Sleeve“ the group drew in the attendees with their strong and energetic stage presence. Newly added front man TJ Jones seemed like a natural working the stage in only his 3rd show with the band with a style remniscent of Robert Plant. The group mixed in a well arranged rocked up cover of “These Boots are Made for Walking” along with some old school style guitar solos from Michael Miller and Duncan Morrow. Closing out their set with the classic Allman Brothers song “Whipping Post” drummer Jesse Worley (son of Jeff Worley/Jackyl) and bassist Jonas Fiebinger laid down the notorious rhythm section groove.

After a short set change intro music begins and the Greenville, SC based Black River Rebels begin into their set of original music. Opening with “The 4“ and “Wolves” you could see and hear many of the bands fans singing along. A group filled with experienced musicians of former successful bands like Blanco Diablo (Bradley Snipes/Drums), Noxious (Robert Dirr/guitar) and 440 (JJ Woolbright/guitar & Robert Dirr) featuring Chris Worley of Jackyl the “Rebels” hard work ethic and powerful rock songs have earned the band a dedicated following. The continued support that has led the band to opening for other national acts with an upcoming show at The Firmament (Greenville, SC) supporting BuckCherry.

Along with David Disaster on bass and the commanding frontman Wade Bowers the band continued on with more of the groups notable songs, “Backseat Driver” and a huge crowd favorite ”In We Dive.” Continously building the energy of the room throughout their set the “Rebels” showed that although they may be considered a “local band” they can keep up with and put on a show just as well as any of the national acts they‘ve shared the stage with.
Closing out their set with “Spirit Molecule“ and “Indigo Monster” the crowd was primed and ready for the main act.

If you haven’t seen Jackyl before you’re missing out. These platinum selling, 27yr veterans of raw rock ‘n’ roll riffs and Guinness World Record holders have shared the stage with bands like Kiss, Aerosmith, Ted Nugent and more. The band consisting of Jesse Dupree (Vocals/Guitar/Chainsaw), Roman Glick (Bass/Backing Vocals), Chris Worley (Drums/Backing Vocals) and Jeff Worley (Guitar/Backing Vocals) has one of the most loyal fan bases I’ve ever witnessed and continues to gain new “family members“ regularly. Stating how the group was excited about the reopening of Amos’ Southend, a venue the band played regularly before it’s closure, Jesse Dupree jokingly mentioned his only disappointment was that owner John didn’t name the place “Jackyl’s Bar & Grill.” Playing a set full of music that spans the groups catalog of albums the 4 piece kicked off the night with “Blast Off” from their “ROWYCO” album and “When Moonshine and Dynamite Collide“ from the album of the same name. Long hair flying everywhere with fist pumping, whiskey holding hands in the air the group was full throttle right from the start. Followed by a crowd participating chant of the bands slogan “rock me, roll me, Jackyl me off“ Jesse welcomed the crowd to the “family reunion.” Jackyl followed with more of the groups newer fan favorites like “Encore” and ”Screwdriver” before delving into a list of songs that set the groups foundations. Between whiskey drinking games, talks of cornbread skillets, Hee Haw and jokes filled full of southern analogies with punch lines like, “get mad at it” and “just wipe it off” the band mixed in songs like “Down On Me” and “Push Comes To Shove“ from their freshman and sophomore releases before slowing it down.

With the self proclaimed number one drinking song of 2019 Dupree began a solo introduction into “Just Because I’m Drunk” with a dynamic build until the full band was back with him. With “Secret of the Bottle” following the crowd joined in with a song along.
Jesse took a moment to make mention of this years upcoming bike rally in Sturgis, SD where Jackyl will be playing their annual Thursday night show for the 20th year in a row at the legendary Full Throttle Saloon.

Going on to fill out the night with songs like “I Stand Alone,” “When Will It Rain,” ”Dirty Little Mind“ and more the night was coming to an end. Dupree left the band to do a little outro music jamming and then with the revving of a chainsaw he reappeared. Fans roaring in excitement as the band went into an encore performance of their signature song “The Lumberjack.” Can you even call it a rock show if you don’t leave covered in saw dust smelling like whiskey and gasoline?

Dupree back and forth across the stage striking poses with the toolshed equipment leading into a solo with the power tool turned instrument as Chris, Roman and Jeff backed him with a bluesy rock groove.
Ending the night sawing a barstool in half, busting it all over the stage the group left no fan disappointed as they took time to meet everyone at the merch booth taking pics and signing band memorabilia.
