American Aquarium may not me a household, mainstream name but they should be. Fronted by BJ Barham the band is a prime example of why more people should be listening to and supporting independent music. The 6 piece band may be labeled as Americana or Country but they give you an all out rock show live. An energetic stage performance draws you in to every eye catching moment while the songs are what get you there in the first place. Lyrical content filled with real life situations make songs relatable and fans connect on a deeper level than this mainstream stuff on today’s radios that have no real substance. From the hardships of life growing up, overcoming addiction and divorce to watching your kids grow up American Aquarium offers a musical experience that everyone should get lost in at least once.

Also on the bill for tonight’s show at The Radio Room in Greenville, SC was Tommy Prine. You may not know this guys name either but you should know of his father John Prine. Well as they say, “like father, like son,” Tommy definitely walks in the footsteps of his iconic father carrying on the musical talent. Prine entertained the crowd with an acoustic set of songs he has written for an upcoming album due out next year. He also mixed in a few of his  dads songs as well as a deep cut Johnny Cash song, “I Still Miss Someone.” Providing backstories of his originals Tommy connected with the audience and gave moments of laughter as well.

The current tour runs through December 12th, 2021 ending at the Salvage Station in Asheville, NC.
