Atlanta, GA (October 13th, 2019) – I still remember a few years ago a friend telling me to go check out a video on YouTube Of this band playing at the House of Blues in California.  It blew my mind how they made fun of celebrities in the crowd and then having them join the band on stage and to play along with them. I was instantly hooked, watching anything I could find about these guys on the internet.  For me, tonight is a special treat getting to see this band live and cover the event here at the Buckhead Theatre.  I’m speaking of the group Steel Panther who are currently out in support of there latest album release “Heavy Metal Rules” with a tour of the same name.

As anticipation builds the lights go dark and four people walk onto the stage and then you hear “Eyes Of The Panther.“ They had arrived in Atlanta, the one and only Steel Panther!  With his raspy high pitched 80’s style vocals, Michael Starr, leads the band through the night.  Keeping the crowd laughing and singing at the top of their lungs.  When Starr had the the crowd yelling “Poontang Boomerang,” it made the backing vocals in the song even louder and even more intense!

Shredding on guitar and taking a moment to insult and introduce all the band members was the legendary, Satchel.  You never know if he is going to be a comedian or blow you away with his guitar skills when this guy comes to the front of the stage .  With his neon guitars and custom as well as controversial Pussy Melter (yes, you read that right!) guitar pedal you could hear this guy and his great tone perfectly all over the building.  Then you have a killer rhythm section that was hitting and timing things perfectly throughout the evening.  When they weren’t checking out their appearance in the mirror, applying more hair spray, or making hilarious faces at the photographers/crowd, Lexxi Foxx and Stix were doing their job perfectly holding things together.  Don’t let the big hair, spandex, and adult sense of humor fool you. The guys of Steel Panther are very talented musicians.

When it comes to their sense of humor, no one is safe.  Just listen to ”Death To All But Metal“ (featuring Cory Taylor on the album) and how even without him these guys still bring a life and energy to the song as they performed it. They humorously insult almost everyone, even Dr. Seuss.  With a perfectly chosen set list, the band made sure to include the fan favorite “Community Property” As well. The band closed the show with “Gloryhole” (and again, yes you read that correctly!) as the fans cheered them on.

If you don’t know who this band is then shame on you and after you read this, go download everything you can find from these guys….immediately!!! You will laugh, sing for a bit, and then laugh even more!  Who ever thought of the idea for Steel Panther needs a pat on the back.  If you’re a musician like me, you’re jealous that you aren’t a part of it.  These guys can make a venue full of people feel like a house party.
