Greenville, SC (4/9/22) –  I’ve always loved being around music so when I decided to take up photography it was no surprise it took me this direction. I remember emailing Spitoono Music Festival in Clemson asking if I could come give the music photography thing a try.  Doug McCormick would actually end up being the first live show I worked.  Seeing that he was added to tonight’s show with Cody Webb brought a bit of excitement, it’s like everything is coming full circle. I had also met Cody when I first started doing shows at The Blindhorse Saloon so I was excited to see and work with him again as well. I had heard that Doug and Cody put on an amazing show together, and was excited for what the night would hold.

With an acoustic guitar and a vintage Earnhardt shirt promoting his latest single of the same name It was time for Doug to kick off the show and get the night started.  To be just one man and a guitar,  he is always full of energy.  I’ve seen him in small and big venues, with big and intimate crowds and he always has that “lets party smile” on his face making you feel like that show is just for you. You can take the singer out of Clemson, but you can’t take Clemson out of the singer.  He lets everyone know that with his song “Tiger Raised In The Southland“.

Let me be honest, I’m not a fan of what you would call “new country”.  Cody may be a younger up and coming artist but that isn’t him at all.  He reminds me more of a 90s country artist, with a little modern twist.  Not just anyone could pull that off but he is and it’s working for him.  He shows everyone this with his song “Jon Boat“.  This guy never lets the energy in the room drop.  I still remember the first time I worked with him and him and his band covering “My Own Worst Enemy” by Lit.  Honestly, these country guys did it better than a lot of rock bands I’ve seen try. One of the real highlights of the evening was Doug coming back on stage and him and Cody playing together.  This reminded me of practicing with my band back in high school.  Just a bunch of guys playing music, not caring what everyone thought, enjoying life and the moment.

Whether it’s Cody, Doug, or both of them together.  Make it a point to check these guys out and learn their names.  Apple music, Youtube, both of them have stuff all over the internet.  If you want a loud, fun, crazy night of great originals and 90s covers.  Check them out asap!
