Many may think that a band with a 51yr career and counting might have become a little stagnant in live performances. Any doubt instantly fades as STYX took to the stage for what would be a 2 set show. Kicking things off with “To Those” the crowd rose to their feet and never sat back down the whole night. The lights, sound and stage performance were all on point as the band rolled through other songs such as “Crystal Ball” and the set closer “Too Much Time On My Hands.”  Also featured in the set was the title track of the bands latest 2021 album “Crash of The Crown.”

After a short intermission STYX would return to the stage.  “Miss America,” “Fooling Yourself” and “Come Sail Away” would fill the second set as the band continued a musical journey through their decades of hit songs.

With a career spanning 5 decades it’s not uncommon to see some member changes. The current lineup has been together for 20 plus years with one exception. Guitarist Will Evankovich has joined the groups touring lineup in 2021 but has provided studio work since 2015. James “JY” Young (guitarist) is the bands only full time original member from 1972. Chuck Panozzo (bass) is also a founding member of STYX and guest spots on a handful of songs throughout the groups shows. Tommy Shaw has been holding down his guitar position since 1975. Drummer Todd Sucherman has been with the band since 1995. Keyboardist Lawrence Gowan (199) and Bass player Ricky Phillips (2003) round out the band. No matter the members STYX has remained true to their iconic sound. Their albums give story lines that take you on a musical experience through an array of various compositions. Sonically their infamous rock opera style mixed with some musical theatre to power ballads, with a bit of progressive rock and some acoustic moments draw you in and captivate the mind with dynamic compositions.
