Charlotte, NC (3/3/22) – All I can say is wow!!! When two of the biggest names in 90’s country team up for a tour together you better make sure to be there. Tracy Lawrence and Clay Walker kicked off their current run of dates tonight in Charlotte, NC. Performing to a sold out crowd at Ovens Auditorium the two stars shared hit after hit of chart topping songs. Tracy delivered favorites such as “Sticks and Stones,” Texas Tornado” and “Time Marches On.” Clay gave the crowd plenty of moments to sing a long with “Rumour Has It,” “This Woman and This Man” and even called an audible to the set list adding in “Hypnotize The Moon” after a fan request and some crowd persuasion.

The evenings show would be a little different than most co-headlining events. The 2 stars shared the stage at the same time. The backing line up of talented musicians consists of part Tracy’s band and part Clay’s band teaming together. Each artist had their moments in the spotlight but the greatest moments were when both Tracy and Clay collaborated on songs together. Trading lead vocals each star took moments to sing the others songs. A nice touch to the show was the added tribute section. Performing a medley of of other artists hits the duo honored country legends who have influenced them in their careers. Classic country songs from Kenny Rogers, Charley Pride, Joe Diffie, Randy Travis and Charlie Daniels had fans dancing in the aisles. The show felt like one big backyard party with your friends as beach balls, confetti and streamers floated throughout the auditorium. The genuine camaraderie and respect that Clay and Tracy share together presented to a room full of their biggest fans was something special to see.

Throughout the show each artist took moments to share insight to stories behind their biggest songs, old road memories and how each found their break in the music scene. Tracy went on to mention that with 30yrs of success behind each artist there’s plenty of classics to be played but it’s fun to break out some new songs as well. Each artist has new album releases out now. Lawrence has a unique release as it’s a collection of 3 albums under the title “Hindsight 2020, Volumes 1,2 & 3.” Introducing “Didn’t We” and “Don’t Drink Whiskey” Tracy would deliver new music that still provides his signature vocals and style. Clay performed “Catching Up To An Ol’ Memory” from his newest album “Texas To Tennessee.”  This song could easily rival some of his best known hits. Both artist have held to their roots and real country music providing fans with something worth listening to. Songs with story lines and meaning of which is missing from much of today’s mainstream radio.

Another artist sticking to her roots is Alexandra Kay who was tonight’s featured opener. Her opening set definitely shows why she has amassed a large following on social media and millions of streams. Previously signed to a major label deal Alexandra backed out when her and the label didn’t see eye to eye on what type of artist she should be. Having gained many new fans by the end of her set I think is safe to say she made the correct choice. Featuring a bit of a 90’s style to her own music with songs such as “All The Cowboys” and an energetic stage presence Alexandra worked the crowd proving why she’s a new artist on the rise. Upon the conclusion of dates with Tracy and Clay on this tour Alexandra can be found back in Charlotte, NC on May 12th as an opening act on the upcoming Tim McGraw tour.
